Here's a drum sequencer controlled by placing ball bearings in certain places on an interactive mat. Is an amazingly beautiful piece of coffee table furniture but essentially a very simple tr-909 beat maker. Another artist who did something similar is Jeff Hoefs, check out http://www.jeffhoefs.com for his Beat Blocks video which is a bit more flexible with rhythms.
