Went to OVADA the other day during my lunch break to see the Oxford Brookes MA Interdisciplinary Arts show called M8. Most MA shows from Brookes look the same to me, recycled Joseph Beuys related material obsessivness and performances about identity pioneered by Shelley Sacks. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the work of Kathy Hinde. Some great pieces of sequenced-sonic-processes.
A projection of birds sat on power lines were treated like notes on a stave, as the cursor passed by them is triggered a note on the piano (situated behind the projection)
Another work involved a music box with punchholed cards being actually made from maps and the holes which were playing were in fact stops on a journey.  The show was of course missing the work of Vicky Cox, who sadly died this year. It would have been nice to seen her work amongst the graduates.
With this in mind it was a shame about half-arsed nonsense that involved the game 'Guess Who?' with the faces replaced for those killed in Iraq (I'm fairly sure this is a stolen idea anyway) I had to refrain from writing "Crock of Shit" on the blackboard that depicted a game of hangman with the letters spelling SADDAM. Honestly, it makes Banksy look high-brow.
